Perspectives
When we’re stuck, we often say, “I need a new perspective.” A new way of seeing things can be all the difference in searching for a solution to a sticky problem. It’s something I’m trying while nailing down my thesis proposal.
So what if I took the theme of ‘perspectives’ and applied it to the relevant domains in my thesis like architecture and cartography? Architecture defines space; the form of a structure proclaims to the outside the behavior performed inside. A map describes space; it recounts to its owner what is otherwise hidden out of sight and shows a way of getting there. Together, these elements do much to guide us through the tasks we complete each day.
Being able to change someone’s perspective of what a space contains and what a space does will change the way people behave in it.
